Every car enthusiast knows about the V8-powered AC Cobra, and most sports car fans are aware that it was derived from the AC Ace, which in turn developed from a Tojeiro sports car. They also probably know that AC made some excellent sporting cars in earlier years. In addition, those knowledgeable about automotive history know that the AC name came from three-wheeler Autocarrier delivery vehicles, the first commercial products of the company. Less well-known is that much of the postwar profits of AC came from producing invalid cars, railway rolling stock and even golf buggies. All of the AC story is told here, including that of the Cobra, which gradually slipped away from AC to become a Ford-sponsored product, as well as the replicas of the Cobra which are still made in the 21st century.
