  • Description

Only the second release of the new 1980s inspired Audi Quattro, Oxford's 1:76 series of classic cars welcomes the pristine white liveried model which comes with contrasting and highly detailed black and silver trim. The rear spoiler is finished in white, the same as the body.

Our model is registered F941 EWD from 1988/89 and is 1:76 scale. The interior is black. The distinctive radiator grille is also black while the Audi logo, comprising four rings, is reproduced in silver on the radiator and in graduated black to silver on the sides.

Arguably ahead of its time, the Quattro was conceived and designed by the visionary Audi engineer Jőrg Bensinger and his team. A new concept in its day, the Quattro linked the features of four-wheel drive (hence the name Quattro), front engine layout with a turbo charged engine and 5 speed manual gearbox. Classed as a mid-sized two-door coupe with a 2.1 litre engine, the car was launched at the March 1980 Geneva Motor Show, selling at £14,500. It was produced solely with left hand drive until 1983. Its style remained almost the same, highly distinctive with its sloping back and customary spoiler, until it ceased production in favour of the Audi S3 in 1991. During that time almost 11,500 were manufactured at the German Ingolstadt Works. The flat fronted radiator grille housed four separate headlamp lenses which were modified over the years. Additionally, a sports version was introduced in 1984 which proved highly successful as a rally car.

Scale
